This week, our successful series of Virtual Careers Fairs continued with the ‘Careers in Tech’ event, taking place on Wednesday, 29th September.

The series, which has been made possible by our Early Careers Recovery Fund, has offered thousands of students and employers to connect, completely free of charge. This time, 900 students interested in technology were able to network with startups, professionals, coders, salespeople, financiers, marketers and developers in the sector - whether they were looking for a job, an internship or just to find out more about working in different professions.

Hundreds of students enjoyed a full day of one-to-one and group sessions with 50 of the most innovative technology brands, such as TikTok, Arup, Baillie Gifford, PwC, Cisco Systems, Computacenter, Sky and many more. Attending students were able to gain networking experience, valuable insight and kick-start their careers with a bang early on

The Handshake platform aims to tear down structural barriers in early talent recruitment across the UK as well as to help recruiters proactively engage with candidates based on their potential and aptitude for a role rather than their background or existing connections. Instead of students being a number in the system, Handshake aims to bring human-to-human contact back to such recruitment processes - something which has been powered by our series of fairs this autumn.

And, we’ve got plenty of experience in hosting great events. Since launching Virtual Career Fairs as a response to Covid-19, Handshake has hosted more than 4,620 events in the system, creating millions of authentic student and employer connections. Within this tool, Handshake supports 1:1 video chats and large-group video events.

Don’t miss the final event in our series - Careers in Business - which takes place on Wednesday 6th October, 2021 from 11am-3pm.
